Summer Plumbing Tips

Summer is finally around the corner and with the warmer weather comes an increase in water usage by at least 25%. Although we will all use more water in the summer, there are some ways that you can avoid wasting water and money on your monthly bill!

If you have a front lawn, the best times to water it is in the evening or morning hours. This will limit the amount of water that is lost by evaporation that usually occurs in the middle of the day when the sun is at its hottest.
If you and your family are planning to go away for the summer, make sure your lower the temperature of your water heater to evade wasting water that is not going to be used.
Replace your washing machine hose every three years to ensure they do not get damaged and leak. A good tip to know is to position your washing machine a few inches away from the wall so that the hose does not bend, which could cause it to break easier.
Sewer line backups are a common problem during the summer because of the increase in rainfall, so make sure to keep an eye out for any sudden clogged drains around your home.
The best tip to know is to get an annual inspection of the plumbing and heating systems in your home. Go Pro Plumbing & Heating specializes in troubleshooting and fixing these problems in homes and businesses around New York City!
